Meet the artist

Giuseppina Graziano is a contemporary abstract painter based in Melbourne, originally from Italy. Known for her vibrant acrylic paintings, her works bring energy and life to any space. Giuseppina’s passion for both verbal and non-verbal forms of communication has been a defining trait since adolescence, with a particular focus on art and foreign languages.

"I believe that, regardless of the form of communication, what matters most is the connection between those involved in the moment, allowing the intended or hidden message to be truly shared."

Her paintings are inspired by her inner world, life experiences, travels, and the beauty she perceives in nature. They feature bold colors, dynamic lines, shapes, splatters, drips, and gestural marks, and rich, layered textures that evoke a tactile and emotive feeling. The interplay of texture and colour is central to Giuseppina’s paintings, inviting viewers to not only see but to feel the movement and energy flowing through each work.

For Giuseppina, painting is a cathartic and joyful process. It's a form of meditation and liberation. Guided by music and her inner voice, she works intuitively and spontaneously, selecting colors, tools, and texture variations that reflect her personal interpretation of the themes inspiring each piece.

"When I paint, I believe the invisible becomes visible through the colors I choose and the texture of the artwork. However, there is no limit to what the finished painting may express and evoke over time, as both the artist and the viewer return to it, embracing it anew."

Her work is influenced by the controlled chaos of Pollock’s action paintings, the geometric forms of Kandinsky, and Boccioni’s sense of motion and dynamism. Giuseppina interprets these ideas through intricate, multilayered compositions that are dynamic and filled with bold colors. The result is a harmonious, balanced visual rhythm that encourages free exploration, with no single focal point, inviting each viewer to find their own meaning in the painting’s emotional depth and visual energy. New details continue to emerge as the viewer engages with the artwork from different perspectives.

"For me, both the act of creating and the viewer's perception of my artwork hold equal value. Ultimately, the relationship with the artwork—whether it’s mine or the viewer’s—is personal, valid, and meaningful."

Giuseppina is a proud member of the Melbourne and Victorian Artist Inc. (MAVA), and her work has been featured in numerous art shows across Melbourne.
