This diptych is inspired by nature and the quiet, reflective mood of winter, a season I’ve never fully embraced. The title plays on winter being the season when I painted it and the stillness I associate with it, where movement slows and time feels frozen. Using cool blues and purples, I intended to capture the calm of evening skies and icy waters, accented by black and white lines suggesting winter’s bare, frosty landscape. Warm yellow and peach strokes symbolize sunlight breaking through cold clouds, representing hope and renewal amid silence, waiting for more vibrant energy’s return.
